YouSustain – Youth Collaboration for Sustainable African Futures is officially starting!
THWS is one of 11 European and African partner institutions involved into this innovative project, in which Prof. Dr. Tanja Kleibl will provide capacity building and support through the integration of participatory action research strategies. Students from the THWS Master’s Programme “International Social Work with Refugees and Migrants” (MRM) will have the possibility to engage through a research orientated practice project or as youth participants throughout the project period.
YouSustain brings together young people and youth organisations (ages 22–30) from Africa and Europe—including Germany, Italy, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda, and Zambia—to collaborate, learn, and act on today’s most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges.
Through youth exchanges, creative expression, and advocacy, the project empowers young people to:
- Strengthen their capacities and leadership
- Engage in critical dialogue on migration, climate justice, and colonial legacies
- Use theatre and photography as tools for decolonial storytelling and advocacy
- Build strong cross-regional networks for inclusive governance and systemic change
By fostering participatory and decolonial approaches.
YouSustain aims to amplify youth voices and support youth-led organisations in becoming influential actors for sustainable and just futures across Africa and Europe. The project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission.
Stay tuned as we share updates, stories, and creative outputs from this exciting journey!
