Information for International Students

All information on this page are directed exclusively to students from abroad.

General information

General information about preparing your study stay in Germany are available on the pages of the                                                    Deutsches Studentenwerk.

Pre-departure Checklist

A pre-departure checklist which you might want to use to prepare your study stay is available on the                                                     THWS pages for international students.

Necessary health insurance

We’d like to point out that health insurance is absolutely necessary: If you want to study in Germany, you need health insurance. Without health insurance, you are not able to enrol. Thus, you are advised to take out health insurance as soon as possible after your arrival in Germany. For more information on health insurance in Germany, please follow the link.

Accommodation

In Germany, you will not automatically be provided accommodation together with your admission to study. Students have to look for accommodation themselves. In a student city and especially shortly before the start of semester, it is very hard to find available rooms in shared accommodation or flats. We thus highly recommend searching for a room/flat well in advance! We also recommend looking for available rooms in surrounding areas like Gerbrunn, Veitshöchheim, Zell, Höchberg, Randersacker. Helpful links related to the accommodation hunt in Würzburg are available from the page on accommodation.

Orientation programme

Before the semester starts, the FHWS International Office offers a free orientation programme for all students from abroad.
