Church labour law - still contemporary today?

Lecture by Prof. Dr. Oxenknecht-Wirtzsch

Should I stay in church even though I don't have anything to do with church? Or am I even obliged to belong to a church for my future job? Many social science students are familiar with these questions. Numerous jobs in the social sector are under church sponsorship. But do I also have to be a member of the Christian Church for each of these professions? And what do I do if I am denominationless or belong to another denomination? Does divorce have consequences for my job? And does my sexual orientation play a role?

Renate Oxenknecht-Witzsch, Professor of Law at the Faculty of Social Work at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, knows the answers. Her research interests include ecclesiastical labour law, she is editor of the Eichstätter Schriften zum kirchlichen Arbeitsrecht and has published numerous articles on this topic.

In the context of her lecture "Church Labour Law - still contemporary today" she illustrates constitutional and ecclesiastical law basics and shows the state of relevant jurisprudence at federal and European level on this topic.

An event on the initiative of the students. Open for all interested, special also for students of the Bachelor and master social work.
