International Week 2019: Challenges for Social Work in the Context of Diversity, Migration, Inequality and Humanitarian Crises
The International Week 2019 started today at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences with fifteen guest lecturers from ten countries. In several courses, the international guests together with over 100 students take a look at the situation and practice of social work in different countries as well as at special challenges that arise for social work. Today, Monday, for example, saw the start of special block courses for sixth-semester students in the Bachelor's programme in Social Work and for first-semester students in the Master's programme in Social Work with Refugees and Migrants. These courses deal, for example, with methods of social work in the context of flight and migration or with dealing with diversity.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Michele di Marco will take an interdisciplinary look at social work and talk about his work at "Emergency Architecture & Human Rights" (EAHR). EAHR works around the world for groups and communities facing inequality, humanitarian crises and human rights violations. EAHR members were awarded the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture 2019 last week in Paris for their achievements in interdisciplinary scientific research and their artistic architectural approach to making construction understandable, attractive and affordable.
