Sat, 23 May 2020 | Aktuelles, Veranstaltungen
On the 23rd of May, the 5th of June and the 27th of June (3 – 6:30 pm) the lecture series “Europe’s Broken Border and Integration Politics: A Critical View from Greece and Germany” will take place.

On the 23rd of May Nikos Xypolytas, a professor and migration sociologist from Greece, will give an overview about the development of the refugee situation in Greece from 2015 until now. Data and analysis from his research carried out on Lesvos will be presented. Furthermore, a Social Worker from Lesvos will share his work experiences and strategies of providing social assistance to unaccompanied minor refugees in a context where basic human rights of refugees are being denied.

On the 5th of June, Members of various initiatives, dedicated to changing the situation in the refugee camps on the Aegean Islands, introduce their work and share their experiences.

On the 27th of June, a theoretical reflection about participatory human rights and the (re) acquisition/activation of power will round up the lecture series. One of the questions that arise is what the right to participate could mean for Social Work on Lesvos.

The webinars are held in English on the online platform Zoom.
